Civil Engineering Designer

MacKay Sposito is seeking a full time Civil Engineering Designer to join the team.  You’ll be responsible for performing and resolving technical and complex civil engineering tasks and problems within established guidelines and applying generally known and accepted engineering standards. Preferred project experience includes the preparation of land development designs and drafting for site plans, subdivisions, preliminary plats, planning, exhibits, utilities, and road frontage improvements.

Keys to Success:

  • Ability to understand and resolve engineering problems and adapt approved engineering methods and standards. Ability to develop grading concepts and final grading design.
  • Maintain composure while under pressure and remain flexible despite interruptions, changes, or disgruntled clients.
  • Reviews and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications or construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations.
  • Meets deadlines, manages projects, and executes complex engineering activities reliably.
  • Prepares engineering designs, summaries of quantities, specifications and cost estimates
  • Provide analytical assessment of complex engineering data such as contract provisions, design agreements, design calculations, preliminary specifications, and other technical data.
  • Ability to building and maintaining professional co-worker, client, and community relationships.
  • Demonstrate success as a draftsman and ability to have a quick drafting turnaround. 

Qualifications:

  • Requires 3 to 5 years of experience in Civil Engineering or relate; land development experience is a major plus
  • Requires Minimum Associate of Arts degree, or equivalent, with major coursework in computer aided drafting, civil engineering, or related field or significant equivalent experience; Bachelors of Science degree preferred. 
  • Aptitude and demonstrated hands-on experience with computer applications in Civil Engineering in AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Excellent computer, writing, communication and customer service skills
  • EIT certification preferred
