MacKay Sposito is seeking a full time Survey Technician I to join our team in Federal Way. Under general supervision, the Survey Technician I assists survey staff in preparation of supporting data for land survey projects.  Conduct analyses and delivers specialized data for projects. Keys to Success:
  • Apply survey information and reduce field notes to layout and draft designs and drawings for projects.
  • Perform base mapping, overlay preparation, and work on storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water main, and street design projects, including review site plans, layouts and publication mockups.
  • Review and conduct field check data for compliance with jurisdictional codes, to ensure survey standards are met.
  • Work with close supervision to complete a variety of office or field work as assigned such as preparing data, charts, plots, maps, records and documents related to surveys.
  • Provide support to other departments such as preparing computer generated maps and exhibits.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate survey and engineering records in support of licensed staff.
  • Develop knowledge of federal, state, and local rules, laws, and regulations regarding survey.
  • Interact with site visitors such as client leaders, local residents and community members, regulatory auditors, and other employees.
  • Use sound judgment to elevate or gain additional information before responding to issues, concerns or questions outside scope of education or job experience or expectations.
  • Assist clients and co-workers in understanding work completed and work remaining.
  • Receive, review and return internal documents as requested on a timely basis, obtaining required authorizations to record billable hours and/or expenses for work performed.
  • Ensure communications are delivered constructively, guided by knowledge of the impact on clients and maintenance of a positive image and reputation for the Company.
  • Must have proficiency in the following key areas:  Word processing, spreadsheet and email software. Must have exposure to, or entry level proficiency in specialty areas IE CADD, Cadastral, Platting or other areas.
  • Requires strong interpersonal skills, including ability to maintain composure under pressure, interact routinely with others face-to-face, by telephone, and through other communication methods using active listening skills and excellent teamwork.
  • Must be reliable in meeting exacting or highly accurate work results, strict deadlines, and prompt and friendly service delivery.
  • Requires working with others in a group or team and the ability to remain flexible despite interruptions and/or routine changes to priorities and/or job duties.
